DECEMBER 2012 — From The Archive #1: Switch

I've been diggin' in the crates this month. Well, more like having a look through some old files of negatives. I came up with these canvasses I made for the monthly Sheffield jazz and broken beat night, Switch, back in 2001.

Starting with photos I took of jazz dancers at the club, I converted them to a half-tone lith positive, which then had to be contacted into a negative (all done in the darkroom, no computers!) The canvasses were primed, then painted with liquid photographic emulsion and hand-printed by myself, using window boxes as developing troughs. The final canvasses were about 150cm x 100cm and hung in the club every month. I wonder what happened to them...?
